Portland State Geology Professor Scott Burns has been a leading local investigator into the Cataclysmic Missoula Ice Age Floods. If you are interested in gaining a local perspective on this multi-State phenomenon, this is your opportunity. Burns is currently updating a well-known text on the Missoula Floods titled "Cataclysms on the Columbia". We will get an update on this work and other ground-breaking research into the Missoula Ice Age Floods. His presentation content and style is considered one of the best.

Scott Burns has been a member of the PSU faculty since 1990; Burns serves as the President on the institutional faculty senate. He is also a member of several other university and department committees. Burns has authored, edited and contributed to numerous publications. In May, Burns was elected vice president of the International Association of Engineering Geologists.
